ABOUT FOR GOODNESS SPEECH

For Goodness Speech, established in 2017, is a locally owned speech therapy clinic based in Warren, CT.

My mission is to improve the lives of children and their families through highly skilled, individualized, and family-centered speech therapy services. Therapy at my clinic is tailored to each individual child based on their own strengths and challenges. Unlike some clinics, I strongly encourage caregivers to participate in their child’s speech therapy session. It’s important to witness those light bulb moments when the new skill finally “clicks”, and to learn what prompts to provide at home as needed to maximize generalization of skills outside of the therapy room. I include caregivers as part of the team and work with them to develop a plan that best fits the child’s needs.

When you call my practice, you speak directly to me, Ashley, the Speech Language Pathologist who will be treating your child. Since I am the only clinician, you won’t have to worry about therapist turnover and your child having to get used to a new therapist every few weeks or months.

Services

Therapy at my clinic is individualized and personal.  When you call my practice, you speak directly to me, Ashley, the Speech Language Pathologist who will be treating your child.  I work directly with the family to understand your needs and develop a plan that works best for your child.  No treatment plan is the same; children's language therapy is tailored to each and every child.  I have a variety of experience in evaluating and providing speech therapy for children of all backgrounds and utilize evidence-based practice when treating.  I encourage family participation in sessions so that parents and caregivers understand what their child is working on and how to carry strategies over into the home.

MEET me!

Hi! I’m Ashley Maturo, Speech Language Pathologist by day, Mom of 3 by afternoon/night! I have 3 kids under the age of 7 and find that I easily relate to my clients on a daily basis because we are all experiencing the “messy middle”! I was born and raised in Dutchess County, NY and moved to CT with my husband in 2018. In my free time, I enjoy reading a good thriller/mystery, and watching true crime shows on TV. I love DIY projects and almost majored in interior design before I fell in love with the field of Speech Pathology. I attended the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, VA and have a profound love for my alma mater!

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT’S TIME TO REACH OUT TO A CHILD SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST?

Is your child often not understood by close family members, teachers or peers?

Do you feel like you have to translate your child’s speech to be understood?

Does your child’s speech sound “slushy” or “noisy”?

Is your child becoming increasingly frustrated when others cannot understand what they have said?

Does your child substitute sounds for others? For example, do they say “tea for key?” Or “fum for thumb?”

It is typical for children to make mistakes when they learn to say new words but if it continues past a certain age, it becomes a disorder. Most children can say almost all of their sounds correctly by the age of 5.

Don’t wait and see! Only a qualified speech language pathologist can tell you if there is something to worry about regarding your child’s speech productions.
